02The company standard

More than steel.
Certainty in every rib.

Stena Steel brings manufacturing discipline and practical project support together.

Every bar begins with controlled material preparation and continues through rolling, thermo-mechanical treatment, dimensional review and final release. The result is reinforcement steel made to be consistent in the yard, predictable during fabrication and dependable inside the structure.

03The product range

The right grade
for every ambition.

Seven yield classes for residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure reinforcement — plus a corrosion-resistant chemistry.

02 / Ductile detailing IS 1786

Stena Fe

500D

Same 500 N/mm² yield as Fe 500, but the D specification demands markedly higher elongation and tighter sulphur and phosphorus limits — so the bar deforms further before it fails.

  • Yield strength500 N/mm²
  • Elongation16%
  • Tensile / yield1.10
  • Seismic zones
  • Dynamic loads
  • Weldable

03 / Seismic grade IS 1786

Stena Fe

500S

The S specification is written for seismic design. It asks for the highest elongation in the 500 class and a tensile-to-yield ratio of at least 1.25, so the bar keeps taking load well past first yield.

  • Yield strength500 N/mm²
  • Elongation18%
  • Tensile / yield1.25
  • Plastic hinges
  • Special detailing
  • High seismic

04 / Higher load IS 1786

Stena Fe

550

Ten percent more yield strength than Fe 500, which lets the designer carry the same load with less steel where the ductility demand is lower.

  • Yield strength550 N/mm²
  • Elongation10%
  • Tensile / yield1.06

05 / Strength with ductility IS 1786

Stena Fe

550D

The combination most high-rise work asks for: the 550 yield class, but with elongation and chemistry limits close to the D-grade discipline of Fe 500D.

  • Yield strength550 N/mm²
  • Elongation14.5%
  • Tensile / yield1.08

06 / Top of IS 1786 IS 1786

Stena Fe

600

The highest grade the Indian Standard covers. Its value is congestion relief — fewer or thinner bars in heavily reinforced members, so concrete can actually be placed and compacted around them.

  • Yield strength600 N/mm²
  • Elongation10%
  • Tensile / yield1.06
  • Congestion relief

  • Heavy RCC

07 / Beyond the standard To order

Stena Fe

650

For designs that call for yield strength above the Fe 600 ceiling. IS 1786:2008 does not cover a 650 class, so this is rolled and released against a specification agreed in writing for the order.

  • Yield strength650 N/mm²
  • ElongationBy agreement
  • Tensile / yieldBy agreement
  • Made to order
  • Engineer approval
  • Special projects

Not an IS 1786:2008 grade — properties are fixed per order and must be approved by your structural engineer.

Figures are the minimum values IS 1786:2008 specifies for each grade, quoted for comparison — they are not batch test results. Fe 650 sits outside the standard and is supplied to a specification agreed per order. Final selection rests with your structural engineer.

05The making

Precision after
the furnace.

Thermo-mechanical treatment creates the essential balance: a tough outer surface for strength and a ductile core for structural performance.

06Quality discipline

Confidence is
measured.

Quality is not a final checkpoint. It is a sequence of controls that follows the material through every stage.

01Chemistry review

Material composition monitored to support consistent mechanical performance.

02Mechanical testing

Yield, tensile and elongation behaviour reviewed against product requirements.

03Bend performance

Bend and rebend response considered for fabrication and site handling.

04Dimensional control

Diameter, weight and rib profile checked for usable, repeatable supply.
